Clinton Courier covers the village of Clinton, the town of Kirkland and the rest of Oneida County, from College Hill down to Utica and out to Rome. Most of what we publish falls into a few areas: the companies that employ people here, the people this county has produced, Hamilton College and its history, the arts in Utica and the region’s sports.

A handful of stories on the site first ran here in 2014 and 2015. We have put those back at their old web addresses with their original dates. Everything else is new, written by the people listed below.

This site is independent. It is not connected to the weekly newspaper that once published in Clinton under a similar name, to the newsletter that followed it, or to any other paper called the Courier.

Staff

Ruth Callender is the editor. She reads every story before it goes up, decides what we cover and answers for anything we get wrong.

Tom Brezinski writes about business and industry in the Mohawk Valley: the brewery, the casino, Griffiss, the mills and the plants that replaced them.

Hannah Mohr writes profiles and history, with a soft spot for anyone buried in the Hamilton College cemetery.

Priya Nadler covers the arts, Munson, the Stanley and the county’s historic sites.

Owen Tafel covers sports, schools and College Hill, and has been inside Clinton Arena more often than he can count.
